Council approves $1.57 million amendment to SR‑82/Forum Blvd. construction contract

Fort Myers City Council voted to approve Amendment No. 1 to Supplemental Task Authorization No. 4, which increases the contract for the roadways/stormwater/bridges construction manager at risk (RFQ No. 0027‑23 with Wright Construction Group Inc.) by $1,572,005.05, bringing the total to approximately $1,652,506.05 and adjusting the calendar days for the work.
Staff clarified the earlier $80,000 figure represented preconstruction services (constructability review and cost estimating). "The initial $80,000 contract was for pre‑construction services ... and now we're moving into the GMP, which is the actual cost of construction," an engineering representative said during the presentation.
Council moved and approved the amendment after brief questions about scope and the transition from design to guaranteed maximum price (GMP) construction work; the motion carried without recorded opposition.
Staff will coordinate with the design and construction teams to finalize schedules and execute the GMP amendment as approved by council.
