Assistant City Attorney Travis Carey briefed council members, explaining the city is currently under contract with Northstar and that a closing by 07/07/2026 would not occur as planned. "Yes. The city is currently under contract to sell the Eastwood project ... the contract was supposed to close by 07/07/2026. It's not going to close by that date, so this is just extending the closing date," Carey said.
Council moved and approved the extension; no opposition was recorded. The amendment is administrative and was described in the meeting as an extension of the contract timeline rather than a substantive change to the sale terms.
Council did not specify a new target closing date in the floor discussion; staff said the extension would allow continued negotiations and processing until a new closing could be scheduled.
