The Whittier Regional Vocational Technical School Committee on June 10 approved multiple financial and personnel items, including donations, a new employer-funded scholarship program and several staff contracts.
Business Manager Cara Cosmos asked the committee to accept seven donations totaling $12,000; the motion passed on roll call. She also presented a new Pucket/Riverrun bank scholarship program that provides five awards of $2,000 each for 2026 graduates who enter full-time work in a trade or technical field; the committee voted to accept the $10,000 scholarship fund and thanked the bank for its support.
For operational contracts, the business manager reported that Martinage Engineering Associates was the low bidder for wastewater compliance-monitoring and engineering consulting: a total bid of $148,915 for the three-year period beginning July 2026 and ending June 2029 (presented for informational purposes at the meeting).
The superintendent recommended Carly Kennedy as the district’s attendance monitor effective Aug. 31, 2026; the committee approved that appointment by roll call. The committee also voted to suspend rules and approve updated state-required policies in a single reading so they could be included in the August student/parent handbook (the policies reflect state law changes on items such as access to buildings, driver training, school choice, restraint and seclusion, and medication administration).
After an executive session on bargaining and personnel strategy, the committee approved contract actions for non-union 12-month staff and voted to approve a five-year contract for the associate principal that includes a 3.5% raise; both items passed on roll call after the executive session.
The meeting concluded after routine approvals and an adjournment vote.
