Students update committee on athletics, clubs and community service; superintendent highlights events and building-committee work

Student representative Richard Dico briefed the committee on athletics and extracurricular activities. He said the football team made a second consecutive vocational Super Bowl appearance and that winter sports rosters include more than 70 basketball players and over 80 wrestlers (about 65 boys and 15 girls) competing in Division One North. Dico noted scrimmages and tournament schedules, and reported on active clubs and community drives including the multicultural club presentation, SkillsUSA Veterans Day breakfast, Interact Club volunteer work, the coats-for-kids drive through Jan. 9, and a hygiene fundraiser that yielded 300 bags distributed with partner organizations.
"The club is currently creating holiday cards for the same organizations," Dico said, summarizing ongoing service activities.
Superintendent Lynch echoed congratulations to students and staff, recapped attendance at local veterans’ breakfasts and conferences, and described recent subcommittee and municipal working-group meetings focused on the school building committee’s work. Lynch noted the building committee will meet again to discuss enrollment trends and potential new-building enrollment projections. He also said he met with other superintendents to discuss topics including bus-fleet ownership and crisis communication strategies.
The committee thanked the student representative and the superintendent for the reports; members asked a few clarifying questions about bus-fleet costs and building-committee meeting schedules.
