The Little Rock Board reviewed details of resolution 4, a proposal to open a neighborhood resource center at 1419 Little Rock 9 Way, immediately across the street from Central High School.
A staff member described the site plan and said the driveway is on the north side of the house and the parking lot will be in the rear, with "about 12 spots" available. The staff member said the center would be staffed 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and that the department currently has 38 code officers; staff expect to place at least three to four code officers at that location and to assign neighborhood resource specialists there as needed.
Board members asked whether the city has the personnel and funding to staff the center and whether institutional neighbors — Central High School and the National Park Service — had been consulted. The staff member said the district and the National Park Service were contacted and that the Central High Neighborhood Association had been briefed. Staff also said they plan to return to the board to request funding for an additional neighborhood resource specialist for the site.
Board members expressed support for being a good neighbor and asked staff to provide details about staffing levels and any budget requests prior to final approval.
