Cochran — At its Feb. 10 meeting the Cochran City Council and Fire Chief Brock Wilcher recognized Cochran Fire Department personnel for life‑saving actions during a structure fire on Dec. 25, 2025.
Chief Wilcher presented Fire Service Commendation and Life Saving Awards and presented certificates and recognition checks to the following personnel: Firefighter McElroy, Firefighter Angus, Sergeant Colton Kleinfeld, Firefighter Quang Nguyen, Firefighter Thong Nguyen and Firefighter Nicholas Mleczko. Chief Wilcher also acknowledged assistance from Bleckley County Fire Department, Bleckley County EMS, Bleckley County 911, the Cochran Police Department and Bleckley Memorial Hospital.
The recognition acknowledged coordinated emergency response across agencies and formalized the city’s appreciation for the life‑saving efforts performed on Dec. 25. Certificates and accompanying recognition checks were presented during the meeting; Chief Wilcher made the presentations and council members offered public acknowledgement.
