YCS board approves student trips: Toledo zoo and Imagination Station visits and YCHS band camp

At its May 11 meeting, the Ypsilanti Community Schools Board approved three field-trip requests for the 2026 season.
Ford Early Learning Center received approval to visit the Toledo Zoo in Toledo, Ohio on May 13, 2026 (motion by Dawn Espy, second by Jeanice Townsend). The board also approved a Ford Early Learning Center trip to the Imagination Station in Toledo on June 2, 2026 (motion by Maria Goodrich, second by Jeanice Townsend). Finally, the board approved a week-long Ypsilanti Community High School marching band camp, Aug. 10–15, 2026, at Echo Grove Camp in Leonard, Mich., to prepare students for the 2026 marching season (motion by Jeanice Townsend, second by Maria Goodrich). All motions carried with aye votes from the five trustees present.
