The board unanimously approved a list of instructional purchases including Imagine Learning for Spanish immersion (K–5) at $26,250 and Playlab licenses and professional learning for K–12 at $35,650. The board also approved purchases from Beable Education for career exploration across grade bands (grades 2–11) totaling $109,282.50. Assistant Superintendent Dr. Carlos Lopez presented the course catalog earlier in the meeting; the board adopted the catalog by motion, with members noting the catalog lists courses that may not be offered every semester.
A major spending item approved was a contract with Pediatric Therapy Associates, LLC for extended school year (ESY) speech, occupational and physical therapy services for the 2026–27 school year. The contract is funded by IDEA and is for $947,033.50. The motion to approve instructional and service contracts was made and seconded and carried unanimously.
The board also approved a three‑year, pay‑upfront contract with NWEA for $120,147.50 to maintain continuity of assessment and instruction, and a separate amended Reid‑Willis Company contract for $24,000 (human resources related). On facilities and operations matters, the board accepted Carpentry Concepts’ low qualified bid of $44,850 to remove and replace failing concrete at the YCMS main entrance—work described as urgent for summer school safety. The board approved a contract with Susan Dicks Psychological Services LLC for services at YIES three days a week at $57,600. Trustee Jeanice Townsend moved and Sharon Lee seconded those motions; all carried unanimously.
Several finance and governance items were approved by unanimous vote: the annual Michigan High School Athletic Association membership resolution for Aug. 1, 2026–July 31, 2027; the district’s 2026 L‑4029 tax rate requests (millage rates) to Superior Township, Ypsilanti Township and the City of Ypsilanti for summer collection and debt service; and renewal of membership with the Michigan Association of School Boards for $7,962.71.
The board accepted donations of $15,000 from the McGregor Fund to Student Support Services and two event donations (Washtenaw Community College $1,500; Wacker Chemical $1,000) for YCS events.
