The Village of Wolverine council on Oct. 13, 2025 approved several park and sidewalk projects and accepted low bids from Sampson Masonry.
Council approved installing two new basketball hoops in South Park after Tal Babcockhad previously pledged contribution via the Sturgeon Valley Foundation and a donor. Rick Johnston moved to approve the project, Bob Wallin supported the motion, and the vote was unanimous.
For sidewalk work on the south side of West Main Street the council received three estimates and accepted the low bid from Sampson Masonry at $4,300; the motion was made by Bob Wallin and supported by Rick Johnston and carried unanimously. Council also approved pouring a sidewalk from the playground to the pavilion in South Park; Sampson Masonry was the low bidder at $4,200 (motion by Sue Beitel, supported by Rick Johnston), and the motion passed by unanimous verbal vote.
William DuBois told the council he was willing to shred a brush pile for $4,200, compared with a roughly $7,000 quote from another provider. Rick Johnston said he would explore additions of river landings for canoeing and kayaking, checking permit requirements with the Department of Natural Resources and Trout Unlimited. President Ochs said he would address concerns about a low awning at the Torrey Tavern before further steps.
The meeting minutes show all project motions passed by unanimous verbal vote; no contracts beyond bid awards were recorded in the minutes.
