At its Aug. 11 meeting, the Village of Wolverine council heard public comments from Jim DuBois and Brian O'Connor. DuBois provided documentation in support of the Lumberjack Festival permit and offered to "provide posts and install same in the village's campground." O'Connor reported sand had gathered at the back door of his building and raised a separate proposal to perform maintenance on the village basketball court — including removal of grass, patching cracks and painting backboard supports.
President Ralph Ochs told the council he had been unable to locate the source of the sediment and said village employees will clean the sand up with a broom and dustpan. After O'Connor offered to submit a written proposal for the court work, Tal Babcock moved to have the council consider the proposal at the Sept. 15 meeting; Rick Johnston supported the motion and the verbal vote was unanimous.
DuBois' documentation for the festival was received by the council; no formal permit vote was recorded at the Aug. 11 meeting. The council will review O'Connor's written maintenance proposal and take it up at its Sept. 15 session.
