The Whiteford Agricultural School Board of Education approved the superintendent's employment contract, the superintendent's 2026 evaluation, an unaffiliated salary schedule and exempt-position contracts at a special meeting on June 23, 2026.
President Shane Hillard called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Board members present were Dave Dixon, Jeff Bunge, Janelle Hauser, Jason Vida and Tom Wenzel; Brandon Iott was absent. Superintendent Scott L. Huard attended, and MASB Consultant Dr. Rod Green was present for the closed-session portion.
The board first approved the meeting agenda. At 6:04 p.m. the board voted to enter a closed session, on a motion by board member Jason Vida seconded by board member Janelle Hauser, citing Sections 8(a) and 8(c) of the Michigan Open Meetings Act and noting the closed session was at the request of the employee to conduct a periodic personnel evaluation. The closed session concluded and the board resumed open session at 7:07 p.m.
In open session the board addressed new business. On a motion by Tom Wenzel, seconded by Dave Dixon, the board approved the presented unaffiliated salary schedule. The board then approved the superintendent's 2026 evaluation on a motion by Wenzel, seconded by Jeff Bunge. Later, on a motion by Wenzel seconded by Janelle Hauser, the board approved the employment contract for Superintendent Scott L. Huard "as presented." President Hillard moved, with Dave Dixon seconding, to approve exempt-position contracts for Charlie Butz, Laura Cruz-Hartland, Mirandia Green, Cathy Machcinski, Sam Marsh, Marisa Tebbe-Cousino and Elaine Thieman; that motion also passed.
