Cabot School District spotlights students, staff and honors longtime board member Corey Williams

The Cabot School District opened its May 20 meeting with a series of recognitions highlighting student achievement, staff leadership and board service.
Coach Justin Acree recognized five students who qualified for the Arkansas All‑State Swim meet: Rocco Overton, Joel Bailey, Caden Niece, Jacob Hertzog and Brayden Howard. Robotics team sponsor Dylan Glover recognized Team Invasion as the first Cabot team to win the VEX State Tournament; the team later placed 23rd at the VEX world competition. Team members named in the record included Nathan Kemp, Layke Bennett, Caleb Pifer and Jackson Lee.
Helen Goodman, art teacher, recognized student Ethan David for earning a Gold Key Scholastic Art award for a piece titled "Time is a Sandwich," along with two Silver Keys and an Honorable Mention. Students Audrey Shearer (Mountain Springs Elementary) and Sayler Stinnett (Northside Elementary) were spotlighted for leadership, kindness and academic improvement.
Building‑level recognitions highlighted teacher Chloe Ruple of Mountain Springs Elementary for taking on higher‑need students and district/state curriculum work, and Sherry Voegele of Northside Elementary for shifting from a math to a reading focus and creating a 3rd/4th grade math spiral review.
The board also held a special recognition honoring board member Corey Williams for 16 years of service to students, staff and the community.
The board adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
