Natick COA subcommittee to track possible state rent-control ballot and explores homeshare option

The Town of Natick Council on Aging Housing Subcommittee on May 21 agreed to research a proposed rent-control measure that may appear on the state ballot in November and to reach out to State Representative Carmine Gentile or Representative David Linsky (as discussed) to get more information.
Committee members recorded an outstanding action to look into the rent-control proposal and identified contacting the relevant state representative as a next step. The minutes do not include text of the proposed measure or any subcommittee position; members simply agreed to investigate the proposal’s potential impacts on Natick seniors.
During public comment, Li Morrison of Metrowest Mediation Services described a Homeshare Program operating in the Metrowest area in which seniors share a single house to reduce housing costs and increase social supports. The subcommittee noted Homeshare as a potential topic for future research but did not adopt any policy or pilot program.
No formal votes or motions were recorded on rent control or Homeshare during the meeting. The subcommittee will include any findings about the ballot measure or Homeshare options in its forthcoming report to the Council on Aging.
