The Sterling Board of Education approved several procedural items on March 18, including the 2026-27 school calendar, a budget transfer of $86,406 into the district’s 10-248A 2% Non‑Lapsing Account, and three field study trips.
Victoria Robinson-Lewis moved and Jennifer Mossner seconded approval of the 26/27 school calendar; the motion passed unanimously. The calendar was developed with consideration of area town calendars, Superintendent Theodore Friend said.
The Board approved transferring $86,406 from the 2024-25 fiscal year to the 10-248A 2% Non‑Lapsing Account on a motion by Victoria Robinson-Lewis, seconded by Catherine Malo; vote unanimous.
On motions by John Brady, seconded by Jennifer Mossner, the Board added and then approved field study trips: 3rd Grade — Southwick Zoo, Mendon, MA (June 2, 2026; rain date June 3), 2nd Grade — Roger Williams Zoo, Providence, RI (June 5, 2026), and Middle School — Roger Williams Zoo, Providence, RI (May 20, 2026). All motions passed unanimously.
