The Sterling Board of Education voted unanimously on March 18 to approve a projected 2026-27 budget totaling $8,672,351 and forwarded the plan to the Board of Finance for review.
Board member Catherine Malo moved the budget for approval and Jennifer Mossner seconded. The motion included a contingency allowing the business office to adjust projections for changes in tuition revenue tied to high school acceptances, provided the district does not exceed a 2.28 percent overall increase.
Business Manager Sara Howley presented the budget review and reminded the Board of upcoming dates tied to the budget timeline, including an Audit Presentation and Board of Finance presentation on March 25 and a Board of Education meeting on April 8, when the BOF is scheduled to take a vote.
The vote was recorded as unanimous. The approved projection will proceed to the Board of Finance and then to the public hearing and town vote schedule set by the district.
