Northern Bristol County Public Health Alliance approves staff trainings, memberships and website domain

The Northern Bristol County Public Health Alliance voted unanimously on Jan. 6 to approve seven expenditures to support regional staff training, memberships and the alliance website.

Anne Marie Fleming, North Attleboro voting member, moved to approve the package of expenditures; Sheri Miller Bedau, Attleboro voting member, seconded the motion. A roll-call vote recorded yes votes from Attleboro, Dighton, North Attleboro and Rehoboth.

The approved items included registration and training costs for regional staff: Emelee Guest’s Title 5 seminar (~$130) and ServSafe exam (~$150); a Safespot BlueDot Project fee (~$250 for 1–10 staff); a PSI membership for Melissa Silverman (~$175/year); Speak Up Champion racial-bias education training for Melissa Silverman (~$299) that could be offered to other members contingent on DPH approval; system inspector certification training and several membership renewals for Cliff Pierre (~$405); and purchase of the website domain northernbristolcountypha.com. Meeting minutes list these seven line items as the motion’s scope.

Meeting materials noted that as of Dec. 31 the alliance had spent about 29% of the total contract ($525,226.21), with major spending categories including nursing supplies, communications, trainings and travel reimbursements. Members were reminded of purchasing rules: community allocations for supplies up to $500 do not require advisory board approval (submit via the SOP Google Form), while purchases over $1,000 require an advisory board vote.

The vote formalizes short-term spending to support regional operations and staff development; the alliance did not attach additional conditions to the approvals. The coalition set reminders about the requirement that all trainings be brought to the advisory board for vote where applicable.
