Berkley Board of Health approves septic certificates, reduces separation at 24 Orchard Street and issues three well permits

The Board approved, stamped and signed Certificates of Compliance for 70 Plain Street East and 177 Bryant Street and accepted consultant reviews and plans for several other properties. The Board voted to reduce the required separation from the bottom of the soil absorption system (SAS) to the seasonally high water table (SHWT) at 24 Orchard Street from 5 feet to 2 feet; Daniel Fournier made the motion and James Romano seconded, and the motion carried with both members present voting in favor (Patrick McCrohan was absent). Plans for 2 Lima Lane, reviewed by consultant Gerald Bernard, were also approved and stamped.
Board members reviewed multiple well results and permit applications. The well results for 139 Padelford Street must be evaluated against Massachusetts limits before final sign-off, the Board said. For 48 Anthony Street the Board required installation of a filter and a re-test for iron and manganese before the well can receive final approval. Rose-Hadrose Well Drilling (represented by Zachary Rose-Hadrose) received three well permits: Permit #11252025 for a well related to 36 Grinnell Street (check recorded as #17336, $300.00), Permit #112525 for 164 Bryant Street (check #17336, $300.00), and Permit #20252511 for 2 Lima Lane (check #17343, $300.00); pink copies of the permits were given to Mr. Rose.
The Board also accepted minutes, correspondence, signed invoices and other routine paperwork. The meeting adjourned at 8:10 P.M.; the next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 9, 2025, at 7:00 P.M.
