Sterling Family Day Committee reports finances, buys tent and readies May 2 yard sale

At its April 28, 2026 meeting, the Sterling Family Day Committee reviewed recent fundraising results, reported account balances and described preparations for upcoming sales and events.
The treasurer reported $10,755.37 in the committee’s checking account and $9,749.71 in the Rainy Day Fund. Committee members said the recent chicken dinner generated $2,118 in revenue with approximately $871.90 in expenses; about 117 dinners were sold.
The committee purchased a used 20-by-40-foot tent (which can be configured as two 20-by-20 tents). Members noted the tent will require more poles to assemble in the larger configuration and that the poles need to be painted before use.
Committee members set a yard sale for Saturday, May 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sterling Town Hall gymnasium. L. Cooper and J. Gooslin were named to run the yard sale; the minutes report 10-plus vendor spots reserved at $25 each. The Family Day Store will have a sales table at the yard sale stocked by donations: members reported seven truckloads of items gathered and organized by J. Bonner, R. Bonner and N. Boyea.
Members also discussed a possible pasta dinner in late October and agreed a calendar of events needs to be created; no dates, budgets, or next steps for the pasta dinner were recorded in the minutes.
The committee adjourned at 8:00 p.m.; the next meeting is May 26, 2026 at 7 p.m. at the SMB.
