Henrietta Township Planning Commission schedules March public hearing on Master Plan; board adopts revised variance language

The Henrietta Township Planning Commission voted Feb. 25, 2025, to schedule a public hearing on the township's Master Plan 2025'030 for March 25 at 7:00 p.m., commissioners said.
Commissioner R. Draeger moved to schedule the hearing; Commissioner T. Kinch seconded and the motion passed unanimously by members present. The commission also reviewed final updates to the draft Master Plan and agreed to refer a revision to the township's variance-expiration language to the Township Board for adoption.
A. Faist, delivering the township official's report, noted items of administrative interest ahead of the hearing, including the effects of Michigan's Earned Sick Time Act on some township employees and recent increases in costs under the township's VC3 IT contract. Faist also reported that a new fire-department air compressor has been installed.
The minutes additionally record that the Township Board approved revised language for Article XVI, Section 1602 (variance) at its March meeting. The updated text states that a variance "will remain in effect and be binding on future owners of the land to pursue completion of the permitted project, unless substantial changes have occurred to the zoning ordinance regulations that undermine the basis for the original issuance of the variance." The minutes do not record a roll-call tally for that Board action.
The commission's next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., when the Master Plan public hearing will occur.
