Police Jury awards $328,000 courthouse roof contract; agrees to replace old health unit roof and retain building

Madison Parish jurors on July 14 awarded the courthouse roof replacement contract to Tyler Towers Roofing & Construction LLC and authorized replacing the roof on the old health unit.
Volkert submitted a bid summary and recommended Tyler Towers as the lowest responsible bidder with a base bid of $328,000. Juror Dave Wilson moved to accept the Tyler Towers bid; Juror Jerry Hicks seconded the motion. Jurors voted to accept the bid and award the contract.
Separately, President Jane Sanders requested and jurors approved replacing the roof of the parish’s old health unit. Juror Jerry Hicks offered the motion to replace the roof, Juror Dave Wilson seconded; the motion carried by roll-call vote (District 1 yea, District 2 absent, District 3 yea, District 4 yea, District 5 yea).
Members of Blessing 4 You Ministry again asked whether the old health unit was available for purchase to convert it into a transitional living facility for women. President Sanders told the ministry the parish will retain the building; no sale or conveyance action was taken at the meeting.
The jury recorded no further debate on the contracts and bids. The courthouse roof award and the decision to retain the old health unit were entered in the meeting minutes for follow-up contracting and maintenance steps.
