Parish attorney says Health Unit tax funds can’t pay for old health unit; jurors allow property in Brownfield assessment

The Secretary read correspondence from Attorney Andrews advising that funds in the Health Unit Account could not be used to renovate the old health unit because the building is no longer used by the Health Unit and would not be used by it after renovation.
Mayor Lewis informed the jury that the city received a Brownfield Assessment Grant and requested the old health unit be included among properties to be assessed. Jerry Hicks moved, and Johnny Hughes seconded, to permit inclusion of the old health unit in the Brownfield assessment process; the motion carried unanimously.
