Dementia Friendly kickoff set for June 23 at NCSC; Springwell to offer AGESPAN program

Paula Panchuck told the Council on Aging Board on May 11 that planning for a Dementia Friendly Community kickoff on June 23 at the Natick Community Senior Center (NCSC) is complete and that a schedule of Thursday events targeted to people living with cognitive decline and their caregivers will run through the summer.
Paula said the kickoff day and summer activities are intended to provide ongoing local supports for people living with dementia and their caregivers.
Debra Shaw provided a Springwell update, reporting a new program called AGESPAN will be offered in the area and includes a respite benefit; she said Springwell staff are being trained to help people on Medicare and Medicaid. Shaw also noted there is an opening on the Aging Advising Council and the organization is seeking volunteers.
