Mayor Gehring and other council members said the harbor stairs are drastically deteriorated and require immediate attention. Council directed staff to solicit contractors for structural drawings and bids with a preferred timeline to complete work by spring 2026; members discussed options for how to fund the project.
Monte Jahnke, representing Dock Street, updated the council on progress at Dock Street and said the city is seeking a survey to establish boundary lines. Harbor Liaison Claseman said the harbor commission is ready to schedule a meeting with the city attorney to begin group discussions, reported about a 4% revenue increase over last year tied to employment of young adult emissaries, and raised quorum policy for follow-up discussion.
Fire Chief Klukowski presented the department's monthly calls and shared a public press release about a fire tanker incident during a training session; his remarks were informational. Planning Commission & RRC Liaison Schwanz provided a brief Mill Pond Park update saying samples have been tested and staff are evaluating a dump area and meeting with contractors.
