Clerk Harmon told the City of Harrisville Council on June 9 that adding Wi‑Fi to the upper harbor parking lot would benefit events and requested a budget not to exceed $1,500. Alderman Vanderheuel moved and Alderman Schwanz seconded the motion to approve the expenditure; the motion passed 6-0.
Harmon also raised the idea of installing a fish‑cleaning station at the harbor and said she will research the project and consult with the harbormaster and commissioners before bringing specifics back to council.
Harbor Liaison Alderman Claseman reported that Tackleland donated and installed fire pits at the harbor. He said transient revenue is currently down, largely because of weather, though the recent Lions Fishing Tournament had a strong turnout.
During council comments Alderman Schwanz read an anonymous letter raising concerns about the conduct of a fish‑cleaning outing; Clerk Harmon, who had attended the event, reported that the fish cleaning was done properly. Council did not take further action on that letter at the June 9 meeting beyond the research request for a formal fish‑cleaning station.
Next steps include staff research on the station’s feasibility and follow‑up reporting to council; the Wi‑Fi installation was authorized within the approved budget cap.
