A citizen, Sharon Batiste, told the council July 21 she wished to move forward with demolition of a dilapidated structure at 604 Ledoux using the city's Clearance Grant. Council discussion followed about demolition policy and adjudicated properties.
Councilwoman Flo Chatman asked to table broader demolition agenda items for further discussion; council consensus was reached to allow E&P Consulting Services, LLC to handle sale of adjudicated properties beginning with properties that have dilapidated structures. The council agreed to add an agenda item concerning an adjudicated property adjacent to City Hall (corner of Evangeline Blvd and Catfish Alley) in the name of Laverne Foster.
Later in the meeting, Councilwoman Carol Frederick moved and Councilwoman Janise Anthony seconded a motion authorizing E&P Consulting Services, LLC to prepare and complete paperwork to transfer the adjudicated property adjacent to City Hall (corner of Evangeline Blvd and Catfish Alley) in the name of Laverne Foster to the City of St. Martinville; the motion carried unanimously.
The Mayor's report also notes Clearance Grant work: demolition of four houses has been completed. The minutes do not list the planned sale price, transfer timetable, or any contractor details for demolition work.
