Council approves alcohol permit for Poppa Bash and permits for Easter egg hunt and car show

The City Council on March 17, 2025 unanimously approved a set of community event permits.
Councilwoman Carol Frederick moved and Councilman Mike Fuselier seconded permission for Dr. Kim Smith of the Phillip “Poppa” Dauterive III Foundation to sell alcohol at the Annual Poppa Bash at Magnolia Pavilion on Saturday, April 12. The minutes record that Chief Martin will recommend the number of security officers needed for that event.
The council also unanimously granted permission for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt in the front portion of Magnolia Park on Sunday, April 6 (motion by Councilman Mike Fuselier, second by Councilwoman Janise Anthony) and for a Car Show and Spring‑Q‑Nik organized by Cecil Wiltz of Black Wallstreet at Adam Carlson Park on Saturday, April 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (motion by Councilman Mike Fuselier, second by Councilwoman Carol Frederick).
All three permits were recorded as granted in the minutes; the minutes do not include additional permit conditions beyond the council’s direction that Chief Martin recommend security staffing for Poppa Bash.
