Hartland awards $1.22 million contract for M-59 water main extension, approves $120,172 for engineering

Hartland Township trustees approved two actions May 19 to advance the M-59 water main extension through the MDOT area: authorization of construction engineering work and award of the installation contract.
The Board voted unanimously to authorize Spalding DeDecker to proceed with construction engineering for the north-side M-59 loop at a cost not to exceed $120,172 and to allow the Public Works Director to make decisions on the Township's behalf for the project. Manager Mike Luce described the work as the construction engineering phase for the previously discussed MDOT-area loop.
Trustees also awarded the installation contract to Bidigare Contractors, the low bidder, approving a contract not to exceed $1,217,411.80 and noting a 10 percent contingency to account for underground uncertainties. Luce said the engineering authorization and construction contract will be funded through the Township's Water Bond proceeds.
The Spalding DeDecker motion was made by Clerk Larry N. Ciofu and seconded by Trustee O'Connell; the Bidigare award motion was made by Clerk Ciofu and seconded by Trustee Petrucci. Both motions passed unanimously (7'0yea, 0'0nay).
