The Town of Darien Blight Review Board met Feb. 11, 2026, in Room 206 at Darien Town Hall and reviewed a series of property enforcement files, recommending foreclosure for several properties, affirming the accrual of fines and ordering updates to liens.
George A. Reilly, chair of the Town of Darien Blight Review Board, called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. and the board unanimously approved the minutes of the Jan. 14, 2026 meeting on a motion by Jim Cameron, seconded by Mike Burke.
Andrew Pepe, ex officio, presented the board's case reviews. He reported that File 16-001 remains in foreclosure with no change in condition, that fines continue to accrue and that the town's liens on the property will be updated. For File 17-011, Pepe said significant debris has accumulated at the property, visible from the street and at the rear, and he recommended foreclosure be referred to the Board of Selectmen; the Selectmen had not yet acted and a lien update was noted. For File 17-019 he said no demolition application has been filed, fines continue, and he recommended foreclosure with a lien update to follow. For File 18-004, Pepe described unchanged blight conditions — including scaffolding, a construction trailer, boats, debris and a deteriorated tent — and said foreclosure proceedings are underway, liens will be updated, and fines continue to accrue.
Pepe also reported no change for File 21-001, that foreclosure is active with ongoing fines and that the property owner did not appear; for File 23-001 he said an appeal is pending following a concluded hearing and briefs are to be submitted. For File 26-001, an abandoned residence with a covered vehicle, Pepe said he has spoken with the owner and the owner's representative and that they plan to remedy blight conditions in spring.
After noting the brevity of recent meetings, the board considered its schedule. Jim Cameron moved, with Mike Burke seconding, that the board adopt an alternate-month meeting cadence unless Pepe or another member requests an earlier meeting. The motion passed unanimously; the board set its next meeting for April 8, 2026.
Mike Burke moved to adjourn; Ms. Okie seconded. The meeting adjourned at 5:45 p.m. The minutes were signed by George A. Reilly, chair.
