Warsaw council approves 2.75% across-the-board wage increase for 2026 (Ordinance 2025-03)

The Warsaw Village Council voted on Nov. 19 to approve a 2.75% across-the-board wage increase for 2026 following a recommendation from the finance committee; the change will be enacted by Ordinance 2025-03.
Finance Committee Chairman Jesse Fischer reported that the finance committee — consisting of Fischer, Josh Young, Renee Hardesty, Mayor Ed Kent and Fiscal Officer Tammy Pope — met before the council session to review salaries and wages for 2026 and recommended a 2.75% pay increase. Council moved on that recommendation; the motion (1st Renee Hardesty; 2nd Corey Fischer) passed with recorded yes votes from Brenda Davis, Jesse Fischer, Corey Fischer, Jerry Funk, Renee Hardesty and Josh Young. The ordinance will be signed to enact the change.
Council members present did not specify dollar-by-dollar effects for each position during the Nov. 19 meeting; Tammy Pope (Fiscal Officer) and staff will apply the percentage to the payroll schedule and provide implementation details. The vote was recorded in the meeting minutes as six yes votes and no recorded no or abstain votes.
The finance committee and council indicated the increase is intended for general salary and wage adjustments for 2026 and that full implementation details, including effective dates and any line-item adjustments, will be reflected when the fiscal officer updates payroll records and the village posts Ordinance 2025-03.
