Warsaw council accepts donations, readies first Movie Night and annual park social

The Warsaw Village Council on July 16 accepted donations for an inaugural Movie Night in the Park and confirmed details for a series of summer events at River View Community Park.
Leah Allen, who presented the Movie Night plan, said the Village has collected about $1,500 in donations to cover a projector, screen and supplies for the event scheduled for Aug. 1, 2025. The movie Cars is expected to begin around 9:30 p.m.; light concessions will be available and volunteers will collect donations at the park entrance. Tana Fischer of Tanya Tasty Treats donated a popcorn machine, popcorn and bags for use during the event.
The council voted to accept two named donations toward the Movie Night project: $250 from Vic Allen and $200 from Council member Jerry Funk. The motion to accept the donations was moved by Corey Fischer and seconded by Renee Hardesty; the motion passed with recorded affirmative votes.
Officials also detailed other park events: a 5K run organized by the River View Cross Country team will be held on Aug. 2 at 8:00 a.m., and the annual River View Community Park Chicken BBQ will take place Aug. 3, with serving beginning at 11:00 a.m. The village secured Rollin Smokin BBQ to supply side dishes, and the volleyball and football programs will help run parts of the social. Organizers said the change to a contracted sides vendor is a trial for this year.
The meeting record notes a mowing contractor, Fry’s Property Solutions, has fallen behind on mowing and trimming at the park; Village Administrator Ed Robinette reported the contractor will work to get caught up before the park social.
The council closed the item by confirming volunteers and logistics for the movie and related events; no additional formal appropriations were recorded in the minutes for these items.
