Warsaw updates on Coshocton water-line project, pool demolition funding and park summer plans

The Warsaw Village Council received multiple infrastructure and parks updates at its June 18 meeting.
Village Administrator Ed Robinette reported the City of Coshocton's water-line project is expected to begin around the first of July and that the new meters to be installed by the city have been delivered. Council members said staff should coordinate timing for meter installation with the contractor and communicate changes to affected residents.
Robinette also said state funding has been released for demolition of the village pool and that the Coshocton Port Authority will put the work out to bid, with completion expected this fall. Site work for a walking path will be done by Vic Allen and paving by Evan Elite of Millersburg; those costs are expected to be paid from reimbursement under an ODNR grant.
Parks staff outlined summer events: the River View Community Park Chicken BBQ is scheduled for Aug. 3, with half-chicken sales, a contracted food truck (Rollin Smokin BBQ), a duck race, 50/50 tickets and homemade ice cream. Council also discussed a reported crack in the pickleball court and agreed to delay repairs until fall with repainting planned next spring. Coach Megan Philabaum asked to stage a 5K "Paws & Claws" race as part of Chicken BBQ weekend on Aug. 2 at 8:30 a.m.; council took no formal vote on the request during the meeting.
Council members said they would continue to coordinate with county staff and the Port Authority on project timelines and grant reimbursements.
