Palmer Energy briefs Warsaw council on aggregation; PUCO approval noted

Bob Snavely of Palmer Energy told the Warsaw Village Council on June 18 that the village has received approval from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio to serve as an electricity and gas aggregator, and that residents would keep the ability to opt in or opt out with no fee.
"Individuals still have control of their electric bill and can opt out and in with no fee," Snavely said, explaining the basic consumer protections under aggregation programs and telling the council he will notify village officials if market rates make moving forward advantageous.
Council members asked questions about timing, consumer choice and next steps. Snavely said he will monitor wholesale and retail offers and report back when rates become more competitive for the village to consider automatic enrollment under the aggregation plan. The council did not take formal action at the meeting.
Because aggregation can affect residents' long-term utility costs, council members indicated they want more information before committing to enrollment. The item will remain on the council's radar as staff and the consultant monitor pricing and regulatory timelines.
