Chairman Tanner Steeves said the Conservation and Inland Wetlands Commission heard an application from Daniel and Sara Denegre on March 12 seeking permission to install an in-ground swimming pool, patio, pool shed and landscaping at 63 West Elm Street (Map 51, Lot 73).
Applicant Sara Denegre presented the plan and described site conditions. The proposed pool shed would be sited about 24 feet from the wetlands. Commissioners and the Wetlands Enforcement Officer, Bruce Driska, noted a nearby pond is approximately 180 feet from the proposed activity and that the lot appears to be former wetlands that was filled historically and now functions as lawn.
Because the meeting lacked a quorum, commissioners did not take a formal vote. Members recommended that the Wetlands Enforcement Officer issue an administrative permit conditioned on sedimentation and erosion controls, including installation of silt fencing behind the proposed shed. The applicant said spoils from excavation would be staged in the driveway and that a concrete platform is planned for the shed. WEO Driska requested that the project contractor contact his office so he can review and oversee sedimentation and erosion control measures during construction.
The matter will proceed administratively through the WEO rather than through a formal commission vote at this meeting.
