At the May 13 Council on Aging meeting, the minutes note strong fundraising results and growing membership for the Friends of RiverMills.
Minutes record that roughly 146 people attended the first spaghetti dinner, which produced about $1,600 in profit. The minutes say the first two dinners will be free for Friends members and that the group aims to host a dinner monthly as a fundraiser. The organization reported membership has grown to more than 200.
Planned fundraisers and events include a car wash on June 14 in which the Chicopee High Honor Society will wash cars; supplies were donated by BJ's. The minutes also note BINGO at the Raymour & Flanigan Outlet in September.
The minutes list other community engagement events (volunteer appreciation dinner, shredding event) that were described as successful; the center's staff were praised for their support.
