The Town Board of the Town of Westfield adopted a Negative Declaration under SEQRA and granted a Special Use Permit on April 2, 2025, allowing Edward J. Carutis to construct and use a 36' x 50' storage barn at 4403 Sherman-Westfield Road in the Residential Agricultural District.
Ed Carutis appeared at the public hearing and described the application; the Planning Board recommended approval provided the building contain no living quarters. The resolution approving the permit includes conditions that the structure be used for storage only, be sited with a minimum 80-foot front setback consistent with updated setback requirements, and that the permit will expire if the use is not begun by April 1, 2026. The resolution also requires compliance with any applicable permit and plan provisions and prohibits assignment without written Town consent.
