Superintendent and treasurer deliver summer updates; new assistant principal introduced

The superintendent and treasurer summarized administrative and financial updates for the coming school year, and the board introduced a newly hired assistant principal.
Superintendent (S2) reviewed next year's bell schedule and rationale: "The bell schedule next year for grades 7 through 12 is 07:20 to 02:35. Grades K through 4 is 08:15 to 03:05. And grades 5 to 6 are 08:15 to 03:45," he said, adding the schedule reflects a two-tier busing operation and the district's decision not to buy additional buses due to budget constraints. He also reported that the football field pad and other summer facilities projects are on the schedule for completion.
Treasurer (Member (S1)) presented preliminary June 30 fiscal-year-end figures: the February forecast projected $28,500,000 in revenue; actual revenue was $28,700,000 (about $177,000 more). Estimated expenditures were $26,400,000 and actual spending was $26,200,000 (about $176,000 less). "So our cash is gonna be $350,000 more than we anticipated," the treasurer said; final June financials will be presented next month for approval.
Amanda Hughes (S8), introducing herself as a high-school Spanish teacher and BEA vice president, provided a brief BEA update noting members are on summer break and participating in professional development.
After an executive-session personnel segment, Superintendent (S2) welcomed the new assistant principal, noting a strong applicant pool: "There was a huge amount of interest in that... 60 applicants," and said the hire comes from Miamisburg and has an impressive background.
The board also announced the facilities committee plans to meet July 8 at 6 p.m. in the same room and thanked volunteers who supported the high school musical.
