The Chicopee City Council Claims & Accounts Committee met Sept. 25, 2024, in the City Council Chambers and postponed consideration of Claim 24-10, a $236.97 restitution request for alleged axle and tire damage from a pothole, after the claimant, Jim Albert, did not appear.
Councilor George Balakier moved for a brief recess citing inclement weather; Councilor Mary Beth Pniak-Costello seconded. The meeting was called back to order at 6:09 PM, at which point Balakier reported the claimant still had not arrived and that there was no public input.
Councilor Samuel Shumsky then moved to postpone consideration of Claim 24-10 to the call of the chair; Pniak-Costello seconded. The motion carried. The committee subsequently approved the minutes of Sept. 25, 2024, on a motion from Shumsky, seconded by Pniak-Costello, and later voted to adjourn. The meeting ended at 6:12 PM.
No additional testimony was taken on the claim at this meeting. The committee did not make a final determination on restitution; the matter remains postponed to the call of the chair.
