At its Aug. 6 meeting the Village of Hillman Council approved a set of administrative and operational items. The Council accepted an Old Republic Insurance quote of $1,680 for airport insurance and approved mailing airport leases (the Airport Manager will not be charged but must sign a lease). Council also approved reimbursement of $437.87 to Brush Creek Mill for a water wheel gear repair and a $53.25 refund to camper Amber Amis after she left early due to illness. The Council voted to pay bills (checks numbered 36934–36974), which included an $800 added charge for gravel.
Council discussed operational items including Emerick Park playground improvement work beginning this month (colors selected), several bridge and pocket-park lights that are out, restoration work remaining after a water-line installation at the Lutheran Church, and that DPW personnel have found an easier method to locate water main leads. Manager Dave Post said lead-and-copper testing must be completed by the end of September. Chris Hardies of Hardies Electric agreed to address airport/airstrip lighting; the Village will notify the FAA if lights cannot be restored.
All routine motions were approved unanimously by the members present.
