Board recognizes youth apprenticeship partnership with local restaurant

At the June 17 work session the Queen Anne’s County Board of Education acknowledged a youth apprenticeship partnership between the district and Modern Stone Kitchen.
Adam Ton, the district’s CTE supervisor, introduced Zach Larore of Modern Stone Kitchen and noted the district hopes to continue such business partnerships. Larore highlighted the student, Tyler Chris, who "has worked over 450 hours" with the business and praised his dependability and professionalism. District staff explained that Maryland Department of Labor governs youth apprenticeship approvals, that apprentices must complete a minimum of 450 hours and be paid at least minimum wage, and that the district has not received complaints about its youth-apprenticeship placements.
The board thanked the business for partnering with the district and recognized the students who participated in the program.
