The City of Chicopee Council on Aging unanimously approved minutes from its April 8, 2025 meeting and accepted the April fiscal report during its May 13 meeting.
Sherry Manyak, center staff, told the board the center is under a city-imposed spending freeze while expenses remain higher than expected. The Friends group contributed $7,000 for the quarter, which the minutes say helped close part of the gap. The minutes record a final Formula funding disbursement of $110,000.
The board approved the fiscal report without objection. The minutes state the center moved some maintenance funding responsibilities to the city and that outstanding expenses remain; several expense lines are closed to further spending pending follow-up.
On the city budget, Manyak said she had her first meeting with city officials and requested an additional $10,000 for next year, and that she must identify another funding source because of budget concerns. The minutes do not specify which accounts would receive the extra $10,000 or name the city official she met with.
The board scheduled follow-up oversight of the budget and will address the funding request and related spending constraints at upcoming meetings. The meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.; the next meeting is set for June 10, 2025, at 4:45 p.m.
