Keri-Ann Wenzel introduced herself as the new Director of Assessing for the Town of East Longmeadow at the Board of Assessors meeting on Jan. 21, 2026. She said Diane Bishop retired on Jan. 9, 2026 and introduced Melissa Goodrow as the department’s new assistant.
Wenzel explained the town mailed FY26 third-quarter tax bills on Dec. 31, 2025. The bills reflect assessments approved Sept. 19, 2025 and a tax rate of $19.43 approved Nov. 18, 2025; once the rate and values are finalized the office calculates the full-year tax, deducts preliminary payments and splits the remaining balance into installments due Feb. 1 and May 1. She reminded taxpayers that, because Feb. 1 falls on a weekend this year, the statutory deadline to file an abatement application is Feb. 2, 2026 by the close of business — the same day the third-quarter bills are due.
Wenzel also said the office mailed bright-orange postcards to business owners about the annual Personal Property Form of List and the 3ABC filing requirements for tax-exempt entities, noting the March 1 filing deadline; she directed businesses to the Assessors page on the town website for forms and additional information. The board was told the first motor-vehicle-excise (MVE) commitment for 2026 was received; those excise bills are scheduled for issuance on Feb. 10 and will be due March 12, 2026.
The board will meet next on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026 at 4:30 p.m.
