Des Moines County supervisors approve bridge grant, subdivision plat and routine leases

The Des Moines County Board of Supervisors on June 23 approved a series of routine contracts, a federally funded bridge agreement and a two‑lot subdivision plat during its regular meeting in Burlington.
Engineer Brian Carter told the board the county’s CHBP Federal‑aid Agreement for Bridge D‑02 (project BRS‑CHBPCO29(99)—GB‑29) covers the Beaverdale Road structure and is bundled with projects in Washington and Muscatine counties; the county will receive 80% of funding for the Beaverdale Road bridge. The board approved the agreement on a motion by Jim Cary, seconded by Tom Broeker.
The board also approved two 12‑month leases presented by Maintenance Director Rodney Bliesener: a $20,000 FY27 lease for the RiverCross Care Facility and the FY27 lease for the Optimae Recovery Center, both described as having no changes from the prior term.
Assistant Land Use Administrator Jarred Lassiter presented the Final Plat for Eberhardt Country Subdivision, a two‑lot minor subdivision meant to resolve a land‑locked house by expanding Lot 1 to include the driveway and reserving Lot 2 for a future family home. The board adopted Resolution #2026‑040 approving the plat with one condition: an Onsite Waste Water Treatment System permit must be obtained from the Des Moines County Health Department and a code‑compliant system installed before any residence on Lot 2 is occupied.
Veterans Affairs Director Brooke Marland introduced commission members Tom Rowley and Arne Hausknecht and recommended All‑Star Maidrite after receiving seven RFPs for the department’s Coffee and Conversation program; the board approved the RFP award.
