Hillsdale board elects 2025 officers, names FOIA and Section 504 designees and extends legal retainer

Nicole Hoffman was elected board president for 2025 at the Hillsdale Community Schools Board of Education regular meeting on Jan. 20, after the board first named her temporary chair for the year. The board also elected Kathy Petersen vice president, Rebecca Portteus secretary and Pat Flannery treasurer; both motions passed 7-0.
The board designated Superintendent Ted Davis as the district’s Administrator for Public Records Disclosure and Freedom of Information Act requests for 2025, and named Holly Loader as the district Section 504 coordinator for 2025. Both administrative-designation motions passed unanimously.
Members voted to extend the district’s retainer relationship with Thrun Law Firm, P.C., for one year; the retainer fee payable in January 2025 is $2,500. The board also approved the schedule of regular meetings for 2025 and authorized President and Treasurer signatures on checks as routine finance controls. The board named multiple banks and investment outlets as authorized depositories and authorized the Superintendent or designee to execute electronic transfers and investments consistent with Policy 6144.
The board’s action consolidates the district’s organizational structure and administrative contacts for routine records and compliance. The meeting was called to order by President Hoffman at 6:00 p.m. in the Hillsdale High School library and adjourned at 6:26 p.m.
