Union City to pursue Broadband Ready Communities designation and hold public meeting

Councilor Kerns moved and Councilor Joyce seconded the motion to proceed; the motion carried unanimously. Council members noted the designation could create additional options for residents by attracting other ISPs and that permitting requirements in the borough conform with the program’s recommendations.
Next steps: staff will schedule the required public meeting and prepare the resolution authorizing the Broadband Ready Communities application and EACOG’s role as municipal champion. No specific timeline for the public meeting was recorded in the minutes.
