Sevierville board approves rezoning at 440 Parkway; city bond rating raised

The Sevierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen on March 16 approved an ordinance rezoning property at 440 Parkway from Arterial Commercial (AC) to Intermediate Commercial (IC) and authorized a property transfer that officials said will facilitate a pending sale.
Mayor Robbie Fox presented ordinance O2026-001 to change the zoning classification for the parcel identified as Sevier County Tax Map 049N, Group D, Parcel 001.01. Vice Mayor Mitch Rader moved to approve the ordinance on second reading, and Alderman Travis L. McCroskey seconded. The board voted unanimously in favor; Aldermen Wayne Helton, Devin Koester, McCroskey, Joey Ohman and Rader voted Yes and Mayor Fox declared the ordinance passed on second reading.
In the same meeting the board authorized Resolution R2026-002 directing the city to transfer its interest in certain stadium property parcels to the Sevierville Industrial Development Board by quitclaim deed to facilitate the sale of the stadium to a private party. City staff told the board the transfer is intended to streamline the sale process. The board approved the resolution subject to correction of the Tennessee Code Annotated citation listed in the resolution paperwork.
The meeting opened with a brief finance report: Lynn K. McClurg, Sevierville's chief financial officer and city recorder, said the city's Moody's bond rating was raised from AA3 to AA2. Mayor Fox also noted the submission of monthly staff reports. Sam Hinson introduced several newly hired or recently promoted municipal employees, including Sgt. Krystal Gibson.
The board met at the Sevierville Civic Center and adjourned at 6:19 p.m. after completing the agenda.
