The Sevierville Regional Planning Commission voted March 5 to amend the city zoning ordinance to conform political‑sign regulation to state law. Development Director Corey Divel said the amendment permits political signs to be posted up to 60 days before an election and sets maximum sizes at 32 square feet on commercial properties and 16 square feet on residential properties.
Commissioners voted to approve the amendment and certified the change to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen for final action. Daryl Roberts made the motion to adopt the amendment; Butch Stott seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The staff memo presented at the meeting noted the amendment is intended to bring the municipal zoning code into compliance with applicable state requirements.
