The Denison City Council voted to renew a three-year agreement with EagleView Pictometry for aerial imagery used by the city’s GIS and public safety teams.
Paul, identified at the meeting as a representative from the assessor’s office, told the council the imagery provides oblique and orthophotography that helps emergency personnel identify points of entry and plan rescues. "The oblique image gives the safety department an opportunity to see the properties ahead of time," Paul said.
Staff said the city’s current annual share for the program is $10,000 while the total program costs are about $40,000 per year and are funded by the city alongside the county and other partners. "This is the same as it’s been in the past," a staff member said while laying out partner contributions.
Council member Greg moved to approve the renewal. In the roll-call vote called by the clerk, Miller voted no; Duke Smith, Cropper, Peterson and Granton voted yes, carrying the motion.
Why it matters: the imagery supports mapping, asset management and public-safety planning and is used by more than one local jurisdiction; keeping the multi‑partner contract intact preserves continuity for the GIS system.
Next steps: the city will finalize the three-year contract, with the renewed term beginning in 2027 and continuing through the 2029 fiscal year.
