Salem Township supervisors vote to advertise bids for tractor with boom mower

The Salem Township Board of Supervisors voted Feb. 11 to advertise for bids to buy a tractor equipped with a boom mower and set minimum requirements and a schedule for solicitation and award.
Supervisor Bob Zundel moved to discuss advertising for bids and Supervisor Todd Paulich seconded; the motion passed unanimously with Supervisors Kerry Jobe, Bob Zundel and Todd Paulich voting in favor. Supervisor Todd Paulich said the board would prefer to buy a brand-new tractor with a boom mower but that purchase is not in this year’s budget.
The board agreed the bid advertisement will specify that any offered tractor must meet these minimum specifications: model year 2008 or newer; equipped with a boom mower; at least 105 horsepower; fewer than 5,000 hours of use; good condition with service records; and available for immediate use. The supervisors approved publishing the ad in the Penn Franklin newspaper on Feb. 16 and Feb. 23, 2026 to satisfy advertising requirements.
Bids will be opened on March 5, 2026, and the board will consider awarding the purchase at its public meeting on March 18, 2026. The board took the advertising and scheduling votes in separate motions; both passed unanimously.
At the close of the special meeting, Supervisor Todd Paulich moved to adjourn; Supervisor Bob Zundel seconded. The supervisors set a public hearing for Feb. 18, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the Salem Township Municipal Building. The meeting adjourned at 12:00 p.m.
