Ashland Conservation Commission issues certificates, ratifies emergency tree removal and continues two NOIs

At its June 15 meeting the Commission issued a Complete Certificate of Compliance for 229 West Union Street and an Invalid Determination COC for 27 Laurelton Drive, ratified an emergency tree removal at 6 Christy Lane, and continued Notices of Intent for 55 Tilton Avenue/60 Pleasant Street and 90 Waverly Street.
The Ashland Conservation Commission on June 15 took several routine permitting and compliance actions: it issued a Complete Certificate of Compliance for 229 West Union Street, issued a Certificate of Compliance with an Invalid Determination for 27 Laurelton Drive, ratified an emergency certification to remove a hazardous tree at 6 Christy Lane, and continued two Notices of Intent to future hearings.
Agent Becca Solomon said the 229 West Union Street property had an Order of Conditions issued in 1993, the septic system was removed and the house connected to Town sewer, the site is stabilized and as-built drawings for the septic project were produced for the Board of Health. Commissioner Gabriel Toledo moved to issue a Complete Certificate of Compliance for DEP 95-285; the motion passed 6-0-0.
On 27 Laurelton Drive (DEP 95-1013), Solomon said the original permit authorized a detached garage that was not built and the homeowner requested the Order be invalidated; Toledo moved to issue a Certificate of Compliance with an Invalid Determination and the motion passed 6-0-0.
Solomon summarized an administratively issued Emergency Certification for 6 Christy Lane to remove a red oak leaning at a 45-degree angle toward the house and driveway, posing a severe windthrow risk; Toledo moved to ratify the Emergency Certification and the motion passed 6-0-0.
The Commission also heard that the applicant for the Notice of Intent and Request for Stormwater Management Permit for 55 Tilton Avenue and 60 Pleasant Street (Tilton Sunrise, LLC; DEP 95-1019) requested a continuance to July 13, 2026, and that the Notice of Intent for 90 Waverly Street (DEP 95-1003) would be continued to June 29, 2026; both continuance motions passed unanimously.
Why it matters: the actions close out a long-standing 1993 Order at West Union Street, clear an inactive permit at Laurelton Drive, approve an emergency safety action, and move forward scheduling for two pending Notices of Intent.
Next steps: the Commission will consider the continued NOI items at their new hearing dates and the ratified emergency action has been recorded in Commission documents.
