Chickasaw County supervisors approve subdivision plats, authorize $33,572 transfer to EMS

The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors on June 22, 2026 approved two minor subdivision plats and authorized an interfund operating transfer to bolster the county’s Emergency Medical Service fund.
At the meeting convened at 9:02 a.m. in the courthouse boardroom in New Hampton, Supervisor Suckow moved and Supervisor Breitbach seconded adoption of Resolution 06-22-26-42 approving a minor subdivision plat for Parcels 2026-30 and 2026-31 (described in the minutes as portions of Section 19, Township 96 North, Range 14 West of the 5th P.M.) and Parcels 2026-32 and 2026-33 (parts of Section 20). The motion passed on a roll-call vote recorded as Ayes: Suckow, Breitbach, Cerwinske, Carter, Hackman.
Supervisor Breitbach moved and Supervisor Carter seconded adoption of Resolution 06-22-26-44, approving the minor subdivision plat for Parcel 2026-34 in the SE1/4 of the NE1/4 of Section 26, Township 94 North, Range 11 West of the 5th P.M. That resolution also passed unanimously.
Later in the meeting the board adopted Resolution No. 06-22-26-43 authorizing periodic transfers from the Rural Services Basic Fund to the Emergency Medical Service Fund for the FY2025-2026 year, with a total maximum transfer amount of $33,572.07. The resolution cites Iowa Code Section 331.432 as the legal authority for such transfers and directs the County Auditor to correct the books and notify the Treasurer when transfers are made. Supervisor Breitbach moved the transfer resolution and Supervisor Carter seconded; the roll call was unanimous.
County Attorney David Laudner offered a public-comment clarification, saying he was not present at the June 15 meeting and that members of the County Commission of Veterans Affairs are political appointments made by the Board of Supervisors. The board acknowledged that Mr. Skilton is a qualified veteran and therefore eligible to serve on that commission.
The board also reviewed updates to personnel-related forms, including an updated Open Government Policy/Open Records acknowledgement and a revised acknowledgement for the Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy/Handbook, and discussed potential further handbook revisions. An agenda item about certificate-of-insurance procedures was moved for consideration at the June 29, 2026 supervisors meeting.
Committee assignments were recorded in the minutes: Supervisor Cerwinske’s June 18 entries included Heartland Insurance and INRCOG Regional Transit; Supervisor Breitbach’s June 17 entry in the minutes includes language transcribed as "FMC Decatoratorization," which is unclear in the record and therefore not specified further here.
